Welcome to Ms. Asbell's 5th grade classroom at Cecil Floyd Elementary school! I chose this classroom's website because I've got family in Joplin, MO where they are located! Ms. Asbell used Weebly as well so I learned a lot of things from her features. I absolutely love that she included a "Ms. Asbell" page all about her. This helps students as well as their parents feel more connected with her, I'm sure. I plan on doing this in my future classroom for sure!
In the "Our Class" tab, Ms. Asbell includes the Class Calendar, the Class Schedule, "SOARing Eagles" and a Thank You. The Thank You tab was very touching. Ms. Asbell lost her classroom in the 2011 tornado at a different school- how sad! On this page, she "shouts out" everyone who helped her raise money and donations to restock her classroom supplies. I can relate to this as the same tornado destroyed the hospital my Grandma worked at in Joplin, Missouri in 2011. "SOARing Eagles" stands for "Show respect, Observe safety, Accept responsibility, Resolve conflict." She has photos of the children that show these qualities in the classroom each month- I love that their parents can log on and see this. Under the "students" tab, she includes important information and weekly lesson plans for her students (and their parents) to access and keep up with- very handy. Under "Parents" she includes social media information as well as a "voicemail" parent phone line and a form to email her directly. I like the open communication feature between her and the parents.
